About Sandra
Sandra is a Registered Psychologist and 500-hour + trained Yoga teacher. She is also a certified iRest teacher.
She lives with one foot in Auckland and one foot in Waipu, enjoying the variety of work and play both areas offer.
She was drawn to yoga by the calmness and clarity it provided her and is curious about the interface of yoga and psychology to support well-being. She is on a lifelong journey to lead a slower, less stressed, more embodied and mindful life fuelled by her practices. She focuses on teaching accessible, slow, trauma informed yoga practices which support healing and awareness of self.
Her vision is to create a Yoga & Wellbeing platform that increases accessibility of healing yoga practices to more people.
She is a guest tutor on yoga teacher trainings in Auckland. .
Qualifications and Memberships include:
- Member of the New Zealand Psychological Society (Institute of Counselling Psychology)
- MA (Hons) Psychology, University of Auckland (1990)
- Completed 500 hours of Yoga Teacher Training at Contemporary Yoga Training (with a specific focus on Restorative Yoga and Yoga Therapy)
-Certified iRest teacher
- Completed 20 hours TCTSY training, 150 hours of Embodied Flow training, Module One Somatic Stress Release (TM)
-Completing Amber Gray Body As Voice Dance Movement Therapy for Trauma training
Sandra has also spent over 12 years working in the suicide sector and remains on the Senior Leadership Team for CASA. She is lead author of the Postvention Management of Suicide Clusters. She is a Member of the Expert Suicide and Media Committee (Chief Coroner's Office and MoH) and a trainer for Le Va Lifekeepers Suicide Prevention training.
